Abstract: There are many sources for weather data and alerts, yet few of these allow one to programmatically obtain data along a driving route. We will present how we obtain weather data from several standard sources and enter it to a PostGIS database. This database enables automated queries for data along a route. Similarly, the database allows for automated notifications if any weather hazards, such as a flood warning, are within a specified distance of a set of assets. We are working with several partners to implement this solution prior to the summer fire, flood and hurricane season.
